The Heart Food Bank

The Resto du Coeur play a dual role: they distribute hot meals directly to people in need, via food donations received from private individuals and companies. But they also act as a Food Bank, distributing surplus food stocks to various more local associations so that they can feed those who are suffering economically just about everywhere in Belgium.

RESTO DU CŒUR

In 2021, 1,350,917 meals were distributed. Against the backdrop of the health crisis, part of the meals were distributed in the form of parcels and the other part as take-away meals.

A meal with us must meet at least two criteria: diversity (e.g. meat, vegetables, potatoes) and quantity to cover the needs of the main meal of the day.

In 2020, some of our Resto du Coeur saw a 60 % increase in customer numbers...

The increase continued in 2021.

The Resto du Coeur... Food Banks with a heart!

PARCELS

A parcel is made up of several daily food rations. Each ration must provide the equivalent of a meal for one person for one day.

SCHOOL MEALS

Some Resto du Coeur provide meals for school-age children living in the homes of the people we help.
